What you can and cannot use RankOtter for, and how we keep AI content safe.

This policy sets the rules for using RankOtter so that what you publish helps your readers and stays within Google's guidelines and the law.

1. Use RankOtter for genuine, helpful content

RankOtter is for publishing useful articles about real businesses, written for real readers. Every customer agrees to this policy as part of our terms.

2. What you must not do

  • Run spam networks or publish large numbers of thin pages to manipulate search rankings
  • Create doorway pages, such as near-identical pages for different towns
  • Publish deceptive, defamatory, hateful or illegal content
  • Impersonate another person or business, or publish fake reviews or testimonials
  • Make false claims about products, health, finance or legal matters
  • Use RankOtter for websites you don't own or aren't authorised to manage
  • Try to get around our safety rails or usage limits

3. Our safety rails

Some topics are never written. Others are blocked until you allow them, and health, money and legal topics always wait for a person to approve them. You can add your own banned topics and phrases. Read more on our Trust and safety page.

4. AI transparency

RankOtter uses AI models to research and write. You can add an optional "Written with AI assistance" byline. If you publish to readers in the EU, you are responsible for any disclosure the EU AI Act requires for your content; our byline option is there to help.

5. What happens if this policy is broken

We may pause publishing, remove access to features or suspend your account. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.

6. Report a concern

Email [email protected] with a link to the content and what's wrong. We review every report.
